Hey, everybody, and welcome to this week's episode of you're wrong. And here's why recording on a Monday night. That is the rarest of rares here in in your wrong world. It's horrible. Now, joined by Greg from Gregory, how are you, buddy? I couldn't be better. Could not be better. Truly. I mean, yeah, there's just, you know, it feels like now there's a little bit of a relaxation period in the world of sports, obviously, you know, the world, the World Cup's going on, but there's like, there's just a little bit of a chance to take a little bit of a deep breath, which is which is nice. It is. It's relieving a little bit. I'll say that there. I would not. I would not say that I have had a chance to take a deep breath. We I mentioned on the show last week that we premiered the beautiful game and and yesterday in sports and both of them doing very well, specifically yesterday in sports. Thank you to everybody who's listening and subscribed and done all that great stuff. It's genuinely appreciated. But since then, we've also launched the Underdog Football Show, which airs on Saturdays. Right now, it's going to go to Mondays once the soccer season's in full swing. But right now, we're just kind of focused on the bigger transfers from the men's and women's side rumors and stuff like that, as well as the Underdog World Cup show, which is a daily recap of what happened the previous day in the World Cup and a look towards that day's games. So yeah, I things have not been slow. I feel like you're very busy. I feel like that's a very busy response. There has not been a show a day in the last week, I believe, where I haven't recorded at least three shows in a day. Wow. That is a lot. It's a lot of talking. At least three. Well, it's a lot of talking. It's a lot of writing. It's a lot of script writing, too, is the hardest part for me. It's like this show. We don't, you know, this isn't initially when this show was conceived. We were writing out scripts and arguments and shit like that, but that's not what this really is anymore. And thank God for that. But I have to write out scripts for free yesterday in sports for the World Cup show, for all that stuff. And it's it's it's it's funny how writing the script takes six times longer than doing the show. Yeah, of course. The preparation always almost feels like for everything in life that the preparation is far more it takes a lot more effort and time than the actual event itself. That's for damn sure. Yeah. Well, the good news is the World Cup will eventually end and then this will probably be paused for four years. We'll see what happens with the Women's World Cup next year, but we'll likely be paused until the next World Cup kicks off. We do have a lot going on. We've got the World Cup still being played. We've got the Philadelphia Phillies, who I believe are still scoring runs from the game the other night. We've got the NBA draft tomorrow. And I think the NHL draft is also pretty soon. I know because of only because of the Chuck trade. Yes. And we have much, much more than that. As always, we have Lucky Rebel Sportsbook open in front of me. Full of wines, props, futures and all of that good stuff. Can I can I tell you, this is going to be a little old man yells at Cloudy, but. I I would I bought some some trading cards, Gregory, for a YouTube thing that I was going to do, and I was like, oh, all right, not, you know, you go on and you see the prices and you're like, all right, I'll spend that much. That'll be that'll be a good amount. I spent seventy five dollars on on soccer trading cards and I got three small packs like three small boxes of cards. I like the price of trading cards is crazy now. I remember going to the store back and going to go into going to country cards back back when I was a kid. I kind of doubt that exists anymore. By the by the 7-Eleven and Kutch Hawk in Pennsylvania and, you know, going to get pick up a pack of cards. It was like a buck where where has where is this gone, Gregory? It's gone the way of the content creator, my friend. It's exactly what it is. It's because that's it's a huge it's a huge market for people online opening up cards and the value of trading cards and what's the coolest thing you can pull and this and that. So when there's the demand, it goes up, up, up, up, up. OK, this is a Topps Chrome 2425 trading card set, and it comes with seven packs in the box. Each pack has four cards in it, which also feels like like I remember packs of cards felt like they had 10 cards when I was 20. Maybe, maybe. So there's 28 cards in this entire pack, and it was roughly that breaks down to roughly a dollar a card seems nearly impossible for that to be the case. It's crazy. It's wild, dude. It's not nearly enough card for your buck. No, I better get I and I don't even I don't even think that one is the one that gave me guaranteed autographs. There was another one. I think the other one was like 100 bucks and it came with two guaranteed autographs in the box, but we'll see. We're going to see what happens. I'm not sure if I'm just going to get bored and open to them or if I'm actually going to do an unboxing show because I don't really need more shows right now, Greg. Oh, that I can imagine that I can absolutely imagine. I find myself in a really weird position with scheduling stuff where it's like, huh, need less shows, not more. And it's weird. It's not it is not something that's been there's been a problem recently, especially with a lot of shows on break. But what are you going to do? What are you going to do? I'm having fun doing that. I'm having fun doing the show. So I think that's the most important part. It does not yet feel like a chore. And that's that's that's positive. Well, yeah, I mean, anytime you're doing anything, if it feels like it's a burden more than like, hey, I'm just going and having fun doing this, when it happens to also be like my job, like that's that's a good time. Well, that's the thing. And, you know, I experienced this with more so running NFL Draft Blitz back in the day than than the podcast network. But God knows they're they're both certainly jobs. But running NFL Draft Blitz, like everybody's like, oh, dude, you're just like you're talking about the NFL draft and you're you're putting up rankings. I'm like, yeah, well, I have to research all of that. Yeah, there's a lot that goes. It's the preparation side of it. Yeah. I have to do work for all of that. And then I have to like I have to actually like update the website and go do all of that, regardless of what you're doing. Eventually, anything you're doing becomes a job. And it's this this has this hasn't started to suck yet. So I'm happy I'm happy with. I'm happy with it's a big positive. How are how are you feeling about the World Cup so far? I mean, it's been fun again, like more great stories another weekend to this. Obviously, Cape Verde can't do anything but draw. It's unreal. That's been a great story. Like just obviously the weird weather delay tonight in Philadelphia with Mbappe in France and I forget who they're playing, but it doesn't matter because I'm pretty confident playing Iraq. Yeah, there it is. They won pretty convincingly. But like there was some crazy weather which caused some scenes and like just everything's everything's just been fun, which is which is, you know, these types of events. It's not always that way, but it feels like there haven't been there haven't been as many. And I know a lot of people's concerns with the expanded groups and stuff is there was just going to be blowout after blowout and some of these teams don't belong. There hasn't been I mean, of course, there's been a couple here and there, but for the most part, most of the games have been relatively competitive. Like it's been it's been good. It's been a good football, Chris. Let's let's leave it at that. It has been good football, Greg, you are correct. France is up three to nothing on Iraq right now, just entering injury time for the Patreon. So if you want to hop on and get in at Lucky Rebel, you can get Iraq to win outright for plus thirty five thousand right now. So, I mean, that would be a heck of a comeback. Not sure how much I haven't watched a ton of that game, so I don't know how much injury time to expect. We know at least three minutes because of the hydration break. So do you think they just left it running for the weather delay? They just kept the clock going. They were like, listen, this is how this works. This is this is soccer, buddy. Get used to it. I have that is weird because I've seen that both ways. I was watching a Wrexham game and there was a first of all, it always surprises me how like when there's a when there's an emergency in the stands, they stop the game. And I've seen this happen twice now. And it was like a like a twenty five minute delay or something. I think I think somebody was having a heart attack and yeah, the medical staff was, by the way, Christian Erickson, Jesus Christ. But yeah, the medical staff was was helping with, you know, the person in the stands. So they but they left they just ran the clock and they added I think it was like twenty five minutes of added time or something like why not just pause the clock? You could probably just pause it. I'm not going to lie. I don't think anybody's going to going to blame you if you just, you know, quick little pause and then move on. Yeah, nobody's going to be like people are going to be genuinely curious as to why we've just entered the hundred and sixteenth minute of the game. It'd be very confusing. Like is this is this an FA Cup draw? What is what's going on? So that is still going on. It is still plus thirty five thousand, by the way, at Lucky Rebel. Those odds have not gone up and Iraq has not managed to get on the board since then. We've also got Norway. Norway actually just took a one nothing lead over Senegal. They are minus two twenty seven at Lucky Rebel to win this one. Yeah, it's been it's been really good football. I've I've really enjoyed it. OK, it looks like the other the one game, the the France Iraq game literally just went off the board. I don't know if it ended. I doubt that, but it's got to be got to be close. It's now off the board. How how about this messy guy, Greg? He I don't believe very good. He seems pretty good. Thirty eight years old and today became the all time leading scorer in World Cup history. And by the way, did so after missing a penalty first. Yeah, not something you see too, too often for a guy of his caliber. But yeah, ends up missing that. And it ends up really not mattering for his eventual goal total. It is crazy, though, because like him and Mbappe are on the exact same number of career World Cup goals, despite Mbappe being significantly younger. And so like every time they they, you know, he sets the record and then Mbappe tied it in the game against Iraq. It's just it's it's very funny to see that that going back and forth. So, you know, hold the record for as long as you can, which today was, I don't know, three and a half hours. Yeah, this Mbappe, he's pretty good, too. I am starting to learn that solid player. Yeah, that's rough. That's rough. And by the way, it makes me wonder, was Argentina just like were they what was going on? Because obviously I have I don't have like a long term knowledge of the sport. And, you know, he Messi got is up to what they're both up to what, 18 now? I think so. Yeah, where and five of them were in his last two games going on before this, a lot more facilitating than anything else. Like there's no doubt about it, but it's just, you know, soccer is a weird game like some some days you're only going to get, you know, or some tournaments. There are times I think Argentina maybe did make it out of the group once. How is that possible? I know. Well, yeah, the smaller fields made it a little bit more complicated, but, you know, it were like early exits in like, you know, first first knockout round, you lose those types of things. Then obviously, you know, the the back to back World Cups of I think finals loss and then the finals win like that. That certainly helps with the opportunities. But now he's just it feels like he's just going for a goal now every time. Like, I'm just going to I'm just going to do this on my own. Thanks. Thanks for everybody else for coming. I appreciate it. But I'm going to be the guy that puts in the back of the net here. Yeah, we also we saw Mo Salah get on the board the other day, giving Egypt their first ever World Cup win, which struck me as just a crazy stat. Feels feels crazy because Salah is not exactly a guy that hasn't been around. Exactly. He's he's definitely been on the international stage for a number of these. And the fact they haven't won a game, but so much of it, like I guess we talk about like club versus nation, there's only so much talent in some of these countries like that is on that like sort of world class level. And there probably still isn't even that much that it that does, I think, play into it. I think I think Argentina has more of that than Egypt does at this exact moment. But it's definitely like, you know, I think that that also plays a big role in something like that, where one it's not necessarily like one star player can kind of carry you around, as you see in a lot of a lot of these these teams. Yeah, but that's just it's it's weird to me because, first of all, you see you see these teams, you know, I don't want to disrespect anybody, but like Jordan's playing right now, they're not the strongest group of players. And you have like Egypt has Mo Salah and Omar Marmouche and Ahmed Ghazi. Like what how were they not how did they not win a game by accident at some point just based upon the three of them? Well, I think also so much of it is qualifying for it. Like obviously now, you know, it's forty eight teams, but for a very long time it was what, thirty six, like just limited opportunities to, you know, you get say maybe you make one World Cup every twelve years and you get three games and you fall into a group that's, you know, it's got like France and Germany and then the third team is like another mid-level team and you just draw with them like that. Yeah, I think I think that plays a significant role in something like that, too. The qualification process is such a long and sort of arduous, arduous thing that like, you know, we're like, how do they not when they have a chance every four years and it's not always the case with some of those countries, especially like the the the African continent countries like there's there's a lot of good teams there that, you know, that don't necessarily get as much love as some of the European nations and things like that. So it's just it's just a hard areas to qualify out of that that I think makes the biggest difference. Yeah, I mean, off the top of my head, you've got you've got Poland, you've got Italy, Hungary, Ukraine, Nigeria, Denmark, not in the World Cup this year. I'm just going to say it. But let's go to 60 next time. Let's just 64, Chris, NCAA tournament style, one and done. Well, 60 just allows you to add another team to each each group. I figure that's probably the easiest way to do it. You can still have this. You can still have the same number of teams coming out of that group stage, but you're just going to add an extra game to the group stage for each team. That would be interesting. I'm sure it'll happen in the day in today's day and age. I hope it does. Like we should there's good players like Rasmus Hoyland not playing in the tournament. There are really, really good players. Look, you don't want to see Lewandowski one more time. Of course it did. I absolutely did. That Hungarian gentleman from Liverpool, Dominic, whose name I can't say. Uh, tuna Rama, they for Italy, so many good players not in the tournament. Yeah. I mean, I think this is Italy's like third straight, third straight, uh, miss yeah, miss world cup. Like that's, it feels almost impossible. Uh, you know, especially growing up, like obviously they win the world cup in 2000 and 10, maybe. Does that sound right? I almost, it almost feels like it can't be right, but it doesn't matter. Um, like that, but that is kind of like, you know, you don't expect these, that especially a team like Italy to miss that, that many world cups in a row, but it's weird how it happens. You just go through weird generations of, uh, generations of talent. And like Poland's a great example too. Like they, this was probably the strongest I've seen their national team in the Lewandowski era and they don't make it because of weird group, like the international group they play in has the Netherlands and they're the ones that win the qualifying spot because they just, they want a goal differential, I think, cause they absolutely smashed. I forget what team it was like eight to nothing or something like that. And like Poland didn't lose in the group, uh, except I think maybe they drew with the Netherlands like that. So it was just, it's just weird. Then they play in like the weird playoff thing where you got to win two games in five days and you lose in the second game. And it's like, ah, well, guess what guys you're not going this time. It's it's weird. Yeah. I guess with Hungary, not there. That means Milos Kerkes isn't there. Chile is not in it. Slovenia is not in it. Cameroon, Georgia, like we could very easily fill another 12 teams. Oh, absolutely. Wales isn't there. Let's let's go. Well, let's watch my beloved Wales. Come on, let's do this. Ireland, not there. Northern Ireland, not you, not being around for the Gareth Bale Wales experiences is it's very, you missed out on arguably one of like the best strikers of all time. It's unbelievable. Literally would carry them to world cup qualification year or whatever world cup in world cup out. I know like two years ago, Rexton was trying to get him to come out of retirement to play for them. It would have been, it would have been absolutely insane. I have no idea how, let's see how old is Gareth Bale right now. I don't think he's that, that old. I don't know. It seemed reasonable. Okay. Yeah. He's 36 right now. So a couple of years ago he would have been like 34 ish, but I think there's injury issues, right? I think that's that. I think that's what played the biggest role. Played in the, played for Wales in the 2022 world cup. And, uh, I don't, I assume they, yeah, they actually, they made it three matches. One goal, no assist, had a yellow and, uh, yeah, it would have been fun to watch Gareth Bale playing for, for Rexton in league two. Yes. That would have been really crazy. By the way, I saw, uh, speaking of Christian Erickson, they were talking to him while I saw the interview with Rexton, uh, when is the president of Sean Harvey, and he was talking about how they were linked to Erickson the transfer window last year. And that Erickson Erickson initially thought that largely they were interested in him because they wanted the storyline for, for the documentary. And there was like, no, dude, we like you're better than you're really good still, uh, if you could just please come play for us. Yeah. So I guess it, the talks did progress a little bit, but ultimately he didn't, you know, some guys don't want to be part of, don't want to be part of the documentary and that's okay. And I get, I get him not wanting to have everybody focused on his health problems, although I hope to God he never has another health problem playing football. So yeah, I don't know, man, you know, you never, it's like the Tua thing, right? You don't, you don't ever want to tell somebody else what to do with their life and I imagine giving up the thing that you've identified as for so long, it's incredibly hard. It's gotta be probably one of the hardest decisions to make, but maybe a smart one. I think almost certainly a smart one. Almost certainly. Uh, what do we got? So we've got Jordan, Algeria tonight, Algeria minus 200. I lucky rebel. We've got, we've got Portugal, Portugal. See, this is exactly what we were just talking about. Exactly. What happens on the show? I'll, I'll, I'll breeze through some Uzbekistani name and then I'll be like Portugal, God damn it. And then I'm, I get in my head about it and it's like, all right, take three. And I'm just getting mad and I'm just like doing bits to myself while still recording because I haven't shut it off yet. Ah, it's horrible. Portugal minus 600 at lucky rebel with Uzbekistan plus 1500. We've got England, Ghana tomorrow, England minus four 75 Ghana plus 1200. Panama versus Croatia, Panama plus five 75 Croatia minus two Oh four. And I guess that looks to be the most competitive game of the day at lucky rebel and finally Columbia and the. The Congo Columbia minus one 80 Congo plus five 25 at lucky rebel. How, um, how are you feeling about tomorrow's slate and any of those games jump out at you? I mean, obviously the, the big question mark is Portugal and how they're going to play obviously with who they're going to play. Well, yeah, sure. That's the, the lineup will be very, very interesting to see how that continues to run, because I know when we talked about it kind of pre-tournament, it was sort of like the, will Ronaldo take a backseat? It does not appear that will be, um, it does certainly not appear to be the case. So, um, I'll be very, very interested to see what that, what that game looks like. And, and, you know, they're playing what Uzbekistan, you said, uh, Uzbekistan wasn't, they weren't exactly like a rollover in their first game. They played, they played all right. Um, but it's the biggest differential in line of the night. Yeah. Well, I think some of that's more reputation than anything. It's fair. Um, but I, I just, I kind of want to say they got to go out there and do it. Right. Like it's, it's something we talk about in, in sports all the time. Like you can have, you can have the, I mean, they have the roster. Let's not kid ourselves, uh, even outside of Ronaldo to, to do, to do some damage. They could field a pretty good team, even if he wasn't there. Uh, so like that's not, or especially if he wasn't there. Well, yeah, sure. Or especially, yeah, that's, that's for sure a possibility, but it's like, uh, you gotta go out there and actually, actually kind of perform and put on that, that show of, Hey, we're like, yeah, we, we know we, whatever drew zero zero in the first game or one, one, I don't remember what the score was, but like we, we can actually, we can actually compete here like, uh, still, even if, even if this guy's not letting us play our actual best 11 players anymore. How do you think Ronaldo, a guy who reported to be something of a megalomaniac is feeling watching messy, do what he's doing and most solid get on the board. Uh, he's probably like, well, I have to go out there and I have to take 17 shots and I have to score every single time we have the opportunity. It has to be me because I can't be, I can't be the suit, the quote unquote superstar that doesn't have, that doesn't have the goal or doesn't have the, my name on the score sheet. Uh, I'm just, I'm still just as good as all of these guys, if not the best, you know, ever. So it is what it is. I saw the greatest use of a meme that I have ever seen in my life on Reddit about a week ago. I'm, I don't know if, if you watch the show, the boys, I do not. Okay. That's fine. So spoilers for anybody who cares about the boys at this point and hasn't watched the absolutely dreadful final season. The main antagonist in the show, the boys is a, is a gentleman by the name of home Blander played by Anthony star. And hope landers basically like bad Superman as what he is. And, uh, so he gets his powers taken away at the end of the, at the end of the, the season, like a final episode. And there is this, he's just like trying to jump, trying to take off and take, fly away, and he just can't do it. He's just jumping and jumping. Few, just futilely jumping, trying to take off. And it, it was, that meme was used to, to sum up Rinaldo, trying to out jump people in the box for headers at this point. And it just made me laugh to no end, dude. It's like so apt, so appropriate. He just, it's like, he's talking about playing in the 20, what? 30 world cup. Yeah, dude. No, no. Some guys don't know when to hang it up, Chris. That's the theme of this episode. I think it really is. Well, we talked about that. Let's talk about the guys who were just about to put those shoes on professionally. The NBA draft tomorrow night, not a smooth segue. The NBA draft tomorrow night. How, how, how are we feeling? Are we, are we confident that Dibance is the number one pick? Especially now that the, the wizards did go out and sign Trey Young to that max contract today? Yeah, I think so. I think that's sort of sealed the deal. They're, they're not going to go, uh, guard first. Um, I, I, there is always the chance that they kind of throw a huge wrench in and decide that Boozer's actually the guy that they want. You think it's Boozer instead of DP if they make a weird pick? I do. I think, I think it's, it's one of those, uh, uh, man, I'm trying to do the NFL comparison. Um, there was like a S sort of a surprise shock. Number one pit, not like shock. Cause obviously it was a higher echelon quarterback. Maybe it was Baker Mayfield. See, he wasn't number one overall. Baker went number one. So maybe that, maybe that where it was like, kind of like, it wasn't like the talk the entire time that he was going to be one and then all of a sudden draft night rolls around the Browns were like, this is what we're doing guys. Hey, how are you? Um, yeah, it was basically like three days before the draft. It's solidified. The Baker was number one, the, um, UNC quarterback before Drake May, who was in Buffalo, right? No, no, no for Biscay. Yes. Her Biscay was the other guy who they were, uh, who was in that conversation. People like to go back and pretend like they were like, Oh no, I always said Patrick, my home should be the number one. Yeah, no, nobody ever said that. You're a liar. Patrick. My homes didn't think he should be the number one. Well, it's, um, it's my drafting's weird. Chris drafting's real weird. All right. So, so we think it's probably going to be Debanza. He, obviously the, the heavy favorite at lucky rebel to be the number one pick. Do you feel, do you feel confident that he is a number one pick worthy player? I mean, I think so. It's been, it's been a situation like he's kind of been, uh, the guy for a while, right. Um, you know, obviously there, there's been, there's been obviously all the conversation about Peterson and the conversation about Boozer and, and any of the other guys and what's supposed to be an unbelievable draft in terms of prospects and stuff like that. But I do think he kind of carries that. And plus like, he's actually a college player that took his team to the NCAA tournament, uh, which is fun. Um, you know, obviously it didn't work out for them in the first round. Uh, but I think that's more on just like BYU roster construction that I think it was actually him. He had a, I forget what his actual stat line was, but it wasn't like he was a no-show. Um, so I really do just think, I think it's something that you kind of have to look at, uh, from that perspective and be like, yeah, like let's, he's definitely worth the investment. Let's not like, listen, if we get it wrong, it's not because we did something weird, it's because we took the guy who would, who was kind of like, maybe not consensus, consensus number one, uh, as of like this taping, but, uh, for sure had been up in the, that echelon for most of the entire conversation leading up to this draft. Well, I have major concerns about Peterson that I'll get to in a second, but that Banta 11 of 25 against Texas in that 79, 71 loss one to seven from three, uh, 12 of 12 from the line, 10 rebounds, and he did turn the ball over five times to one assist. So a little bit of a shell shock for, for AJ in that tournament game, but didn't, he wasn't awful and he certainly wasn't the reason they lost Peterson. Obviously now the, the very heavy favorite to go number two to Utah at lucky rebel minus two 25 can boozers plus two 15 Peterson doesn't want to be in Utah. He doesn't, first of all, Utah is going to be good, but that is true. They will be good. The fact, I mean, they're going to be good and they're also going to be crazy big, like there's Utah is going to have the problem with who aren't they going to start because you're going to get what, well, assuming they don't insult him to the point where he doesn't resign. You're going to get Walker Kessler back. He's going to be your center. Cause Jaron Jackson, Jr. Can't be the center. JJ is going to be JJ. Jay's going to be a three, uh, two, God, hot words, hard. Jaron Jackson, Jr. Is going to be the four mark and it'll be the three. And then it's like, okay, well, what do we have? Keontae George and potentially Darren Peterson in the back court. Ace Bailey is there too. So like somebody good is not going to start for Utah. That's a good problem to have, uh, until people start getting mad at each other. Yeah. I don't see ACE as a guy who's going to be cool coming off the bench, probably not, I don't know, I don't know. Maybe you start, maybe you call Jackson the five and then you, you correct your lineups during that first sub when either Jackson or marketing comes out and Kessler comes in, um, yeah, whatever. It's a good problem to have though. Here's my issue with Peterson. Like I said, one, he doesn't want to be in Utah. I canceled his, his workout with the jazz. He wants to be the number one pick in the draft. He's also represented by the same agent that represents Keontae George, which is a little bit weird since they're kind of going to be fighting for minutes there. He wants to be a point guard. He keeps saying he's a point guard. He averaged 1.6 assists less a game last year. No prospect in the top 20 averaged fewer assists than Darren Peterson. Aside from Merez Johnson, Jr. The Michigan power forward center. That seems counterproductive to what the, uh, ask is. Yeah, it, it makes no sense to me. Cam Boozer averaged 4.1, Caleb Wilson, 2.7. Um, uh, Tamara 2.4. Gax, a lender board 3.2. Natum meant did nothing at Tennessee. He averaged 2.3 assists a game. Almost a full assist. More honest Steinbach actually averaged the same number of assists at 1.6 as Darren Peterson. I don't get it. Like you're, you're, I will. I, as, as someone myself who has been criticized quite a bit over the course of his basketball career for passing the ball more than he should, I firmly believe point guards are made, not built. You can't turn a guy into a point guard. You just can't, you have to have the attitude or you don't. And it does not seem like Darren Peterson has that mentality and that's fine. He is an incredibly gifted scorer of the basketball. Just worry about going, getting 25 every night there and not being called the point guard. Yeah. Uh, position position doesn't really matter if you're doing other things on the court that, that, that don't necessarily reflect it. You know what I mean? Like don't, don't pigeon you like pigeonholing yourself into something that you're not really, you've never really proven that that's true. You're a colleague is your specialty in these situations. So yeah, very, very weird, uh, to be honest, decision-making to, to try to like force the issue there. Cam Boozer, the big favorite to go number three minus two 20 versus Peterson's plus 300 at lucky rebel. Uh, Caleb Wilson, even bigger favorite to go number four minus four 75. Cam Boozer plus 400. After the top four, it gets interesting though, that, that Clippers pick, which I think a lot of people long thought might end up in the honest trade. Somehow as a third team facilitator, is there going to be a trade? Like, uh, to be honest, the rumors today, the hot, the hot gas today down to two teams, it will be Janice will be traded to the Celtics or the heat, and it will happen before the draft. Also, the rumor is it will be a two team trade, not a multi-team trade. So the, from what I understand and who knows how much of this is true and how much isn't, and I'm terrified that my line isn't going up and down on the screen right now, um, hope to God you hear me. So I assume it's recording. Um, oh boy, what a problem. What a fun problem that would be. Um, the rumor is that the bucks front office is torn between, do they want a Boston trade, which is going to basically be Jalen Brown and another piece or two. And that is, that allows them to potentially be more competitive or do they want this heat pick that allegedly involves Tyler hero, Keloware, Nicola Jovich, Jaime Hawkins Jr. I think there's another piece for cap reasons and potentially five first round picks. It's what direction do you want to go? Tear it down. Tear it down. Agreed. I don't don't listen. Uh, and this has zero to do with, uh, the fact that I could care less if he goes to the Boston Celtics or not, to be fair, I've lost all hope in most of the Sixers. So it really doesn't matter. That's fair. Um, but like, like if you're the box, you have to tear it down, have one to two seasons that are, listen, we're going to be miserable, but we're rebuilding this. Like, this is, this is just how it's going to work. Hey, maybe we get lucky. We hit in the draft. We do this, we do that. We have a lot of capital. We can make moves. We can do things like, let's, let's relax a little bit. Um, but like to try to immediately turn it around and it's not really a knock on Jalen Brown. He's fine. He carried the Celtics to a two seed in the same conference. Like, it's not, it's not, it's not a, it's not a knock on him. He's fine. Um, but you're just, you're just not built enough outside of him to win and compete with that. So what is the roster of Ryan Rollins, Jalen Brown, Kyle Kuzma, Bobby Portis, and Miles Turner look like in the East? The play in team. Yeah. If you're trading Giannis, what the fuck is the point? No, you gotta, you gotta cash in and get as much. As much additional capital as, as possible. If you're going to move on from, from Giannis, to be fair, you probably should have done it at the trade deadline, but it is what it is. Well, yeah. Um, it really maxed that value out, uh, which they're obviously, uh, you're, you're not going to do in either of these scenarios. So it's like, I don't know, man, it almost makes me wish we could get a third team situate like a, a masked man and wrestling running in, uh, with a, with an insane offer that just kind of, uh, like, listen, he's not going to either of these places. Welcome to Philadelphia, Giannis. And Bede, you're a buck. Good luck, buddy. Well, it's not even that the team that makes the most sense to me is Charlotte. Well, it's San Antonio, but of the realistic teams, Charlotte, they just have so much shooting and they need a grownup and well, for lack of a better term that theoretically could be Giannis. Yes. Yeah, it would be, uh, a much, a calming presence in, uh, in that, on that roster would, would go a long way. I think, and they were, they were good without that, but you add that in and it's like, oh man, this team like actually might be a legitimate contender. I a hundred percent. I think that there are an absolute contender in the East. If you add Giannis, the team, or at least the idea of what we believe Giannis still is. Maybe have to see that over a prolonged period to know that he is still that guy. Um, San Antonio obviously makes a lot of sense. They, I was listening to it cause, um, Zandrick from the NBA show mentioned this to me and San Antonio does announce Victor Wemenyama as a forward in their lineup, so like even they kind of know what he is like, they don't, they're not even pretending he's the center. Yeah. Let's get a big guy and just let him, let him work down there. Yeah, no, it would make perfect sense. It'd be, it'd be really like a perfect fit. Also, I think there's a possibility that Dylan Harper who everybody's like, oh, we're building around Dylan Harper now might be an asshole. Like he might, he might be an asshole. It's a very real possibility. There is all of that. There's all of that talk that, you know, he was complaining about his role during the playoffs and all of that stuff. And there was the him, him liking that social media post that was making fun of De'Aaron Fox that we all kind of wrote off like, oh, he probably saw De'Aaron Fox and he liked it and he, you know, didn't really look at it. But what if that's not the case? What if he did know exactly what he was liking and what he was reposting? Then it's a real problem, uh, if you're the Spurs with what you thought was the potential future, uh, in your back court. It's also weird to me that all of that happened. And then, you know, we, the rumor came out that Harper wanted to be, we don't want it potentially wanted to be traded if he wasn't going to be a starter and the next day the Spurs came out and they're like, no, De'Aaron Fox is our pulling card, like that's a message. Well, and they're, but they're a franchise that doesn't pull punches. Like they don't mess around like that. You know what I mean? Then they should have fired Mitch Johnson. Well, sure. Yeah. That's, uh, that's besides the point, but it is, it is a situation though. Like, you know, I'm not necessarily super, uh, super surprised by like them being like, Hey man, listen, this is, uh, this is how it works, my friend. You know, like we were the Spurs. It's not, this isn't some sort of clown show operation. We've sort of, uh, grown ourselves on or brought this franchise up on sort of, uh, you know, being one of the best teams of the last two decades or three decades. Yeah. Um, you know, we, we're not playing this like, uh, me, me, uh, horseshit that you get, um, you know, some other places. So I wouldn't be it. I'll say this, if there was a time to sell on him right now is the time because, uh, he, you know, despite whatever, if you, if you think he is an asshole outside of it, the man did have a good playoff run and he had a really good NBA finals and the Spurs were, uh, much better with him on the court than off the court. So it's like, he would be the key piece in a Janus trade. Yeah. Yeah. So, uh, I don't know. Well, I guess the moral of the story is you ain't at Rutgers no more Dylan. Well at Rutgers, they were unbelievably bad and somehow two lottery picks on the team. So that's, that's interesting. Yeah. And I know that you're a pretty firm believer as you, as you mentioned in the Dibanza prose that good players should get their teams into the playoffs. I mean, yes, if you like that to me and maybe it is, maybe it is a little bit alike, uh, the, the experiences that, that we had as Sixers fans of two number one picks who didn't have their teams in the NCAA tournament. Now, obviously, uh, I think in the case of Ben Simmons, it was like, dude, I'm here, I'm here to like play 35 games of basketball and then I'm going to the NBA, uh, false. I just think Washington's a shit program. And let's not forget like all this stuff with false as mom to false reportedly did not want to declare for the draft and his mom, his mother made him. Yeah. Which that's a, that's a whole nother can of worms. Uh, yeah, no, I got shown. I got recommended a, a highlight video from like 2017 or 18 and it was, it would have been false as rookie year, likely right after he came back from that, the weird injury, and it was just a young Joelle, Ben and Markel dominating a game. And it's like, goddamn, what should have been. I mean, it, it really should have been, could have been whatever you want to say. It was, there were certain times it didn't happen very often, but they were all playing together and you're like, well, yeah, I might be cooking here a little bit, let's, let's get this all wrapped up and figured out. And it just, it just never, never fully got to the point where you could really believe in it. Well, because of everything that happened subsequently, I think people forget how good and impactful Ben Simmons was. Oh yeah. There's there's revisionist history on, and, and I'm for sure, uh, guilty of using it in arguments, uh, of his, of Ben Simmons, actual Sixers career because of the way that it ended. Um, but the, the guy was a legitimate superstar. He was a guy you could bet triple double on every night. And you, you, there was a very real chance you were going to hit that, uh, without, without question. And like the, the defense was there, the, the ability to facilitate. Yeah. He, he didn't know. It might've been the most impactful defensive player in the NBA. Yeah. Like he didn't, he didn't always give you the scoring that I think you, you would have potentially wanted from him, but like there, he, he impacted the game significantly in other ways, like significantly night in and night out. He still holds the NBA record for most assists in a season by a rookie. Yeah. Uh, there's like, yeah, his passing was unreal. No, he, uh, it's just, it's just unfortunate the way that, uh, the way that it kind of all, all ended. And, and listen, there's a lot of people to blame. He, he also being one of them. So, you know, it is what it is, but like, I, I, I hate that. I do hate the people that are like, well, he was never good. And it's like, well, that's, that's just factually inaccurate. He was definitely, he was definitely very good. And it was a big, a big time factor in, in the Sixers success of where they were to get into the, to the eventual areas of playoff failure. Like that is, that's a real thing. Ben still 29 years old fishing champion. Chris has got a congratulations to him, by the way. Here's the thing. Like, I do think that there was a lot of prima Donna in Ben Simmons early on, but I do think he's grown up when, when you listen to the interviews from him now, like it does seem like he has another perspective on things and he's grown up a little bit. And I'm, I'm happy about that. It's crazy. Cause I mean, you're the guy, the number one overall pick in the draft played 383 games in his career. Average 30 minutes a game, 13% from three 59% from the line, but he gave you, he gave you a 13, seven, four and seven, two with a steel and a half and almost a block and game. And those numbers significantly brought or, or brought down by the end of his career. Oh yeah. Like he was good. He was very good. It just was in a very short burst that gets forgotten because of the other, the other stuff. It's scary to think of how good he should have been after that second year, his second year, he averaged 17 points, 8.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists a game with one and one and a half steals a game in a block, like 17, nine and eight as a second year player, it's, and it's just never, that was it. That was the peak. It now. Yeah. He just never know. It's why like, uh, there's another show that I listened to, uh, that there are no other podcasts, right? There are no other podcasts. Sure. Uh, but they, they always talk about like championship windows and how like people look so far into the future, but like, it's impossible to predict how, how those, how quickly those windows close and how, how, even if they're actually even open, you know what I mean? So like, it's nuts to think that like, that's where they were. And you're like, you're like, dude, we're set for, we're going to be contenders for a while just because of these two guys potentially. And it just, it just imploded within what four years essentially. Not even that long. Yeah. Like it's just, yeah, it's crazy. It's crazy. How quickly things can change and where expectations can, can take you, like how much money would you want to have one unlucky rebel? If you could have placed a bet in 2017, that it would be 2026 and Joelle Embiid would be the one still on the team. I, a lot, a lot. Like you, you thought you had absolute sure things in false incentives and, and the injury riddled Joelle is the one who like people give him so much shit, but he cares. Yeah. Yeah. That's for sure. And I know he's me and there's also this argument that like, Oh yeah, well, he's only playing because, you know, he wants the money. No, that's not how NBA contracts work. You medically retire. You're still paid every single cent. It's just the team doesn't, that doesn't count against the salary cap a year after you retire. Like he's Joelle Embiid is playing basketball because he loves basketball. He wants to play, he wants to be out there and he is destroying his body to do so. Like it sucks that the injuries are, the injuries have happened to him and that he's not able to be what we all wanted him to be, but at least he's fucking trying. Yeah, no. And again, obviously, uh, you know, card carrying Embiid hater. Uh, I do, I do, I do, I do significantly respect that, that part of everything. I mean, so much of it is also like organizationally letting, letting him down and those kinds of things and not being willing to spend and not being willing to do certain things and it's just a problem with that though. Well, I have a problem with that contention, not from you specifically, but. There were some really good teams around him. I mean, look at all of the, like they had that. Look at that first team when, yeah, I know the Toby thing didn't work out, but then they went out and they, they, they spent for Toby, they spent for JJ, they traded for, for Jimmy and then they brought, you know, they, then they tried hard and after that, like they constantly keep and then Paul George. Yeah. After that, they, perhaps they're misidentifying, but they keep trying and putting decent rosters around him. Yeah, but it's decent rosters to like the first five to six guys. There's never, there's, there's never the like, and, and what that, this is where the front office, I think matters almost more than anything is there's not around anymore for, yeah. Um, but like that part of it almost seems like where they miss the most is they never had the, the correct depth. Uh, and I'm sure we'll, we'll do much longer, uh, diatribes on this kind of stuff when it beat eventually, uh, is either no longer a six or, or tires, whatever, whatever comes first, but like it, it is, you know, it's one of those situations where it's like they, while they had the, the, they had the five, right, you had, you had the five, but it's, it's everything that came kind of after that, that, that never, never fully meshed well. And I don't, I don't necessarily know even how to, how to explain that. I agree. You're right there. The bench was not a strength for that team. No. Yeah. Just odd. Is there anybody, anybody you have circled as a guy you like for that 22 pick? It's so hard to predict with just how crazy I think some of this early draft stuff's going to be. Yeah. Um, I feel like, I feel like you have to go a little bit bigger and sort of the front court area, um, because you have maxi because you have edge comb, it feels like that area, but then again, third guard would have been super sick. Uh, but I don't know. And like 22 is kind of the place you could grab something like that, depending on who falls. Then it starts. Yeah, that would be, you know what, I'll be honest with you. That would be, that would be really, really good. It's a guy who can come in and kind of control the ball and create his own offense as necessary. Like can play with Mac, can play with maxi and edge comb individually. Yeah. Huh? Man. Now you have me intrigued, Chris. I wasn't necessarily thinking that, but I would love to see who intrigued. I don't think he's going to be on the board. No, I don't think he is either, but it would be cool. Yeah. I mean, I think the guys who are often tied to Philadelphia, you're talking, God, uh, in the area you're talking about, like Isaiah Evans, you're talking about co-op Pete, who is my worst case scenario, uh, you're talking about Alan graves from Santa Clara, uh, a bookie, a Corey from Stanford, Christian Anderson from Texas tech it's kind of look, the 76ers are not the team to take a swing on a high risk injury guy, but Jaden Quaintance from Kentucky is going to be around there. I would love for, and I think this guy is getting, has had some helium recently and he's probably going to be off the board, the guy I would love for Philadelphia, 22 is Dalen Swain from Texas. Okay. I play the three. I think he can be a guy who actually runs the offense in a year or two and letting maxi play off the ball more led Texas in basically every single category that mattered this year. As, as we pointed out that Texas team beat BYU in the first tournament. Yeah. I like six 80, 210 pounds. Well-built ready to play right away. You just, you have to believe that the jumper is going to come because, you know, he's not much of a three point shooter at this point. I think he shot shut 34% on two and a half threes a game this year. So you have to believe that the jumper can come along, but man, I like everything he does on the court that he is my dream pick. I just don't, I don't think he's going to be there. Cause I think teams are smarter than that. Some teams are, but there's a lot of dumb teams out there. Chris, there are a lot of dumb teams out there. Uh, who, who do you just hate in the lottery? Who are the guys you completely avoid in the lottery itself? Uh, lottery type picks. I don't necessarily. I mean, obviously we talked a little about, uh, a little bit about amen earlier. Uh, I know he's kind of in that general area. By the way, Milwaukee, allegedly his floor from what I'm hearing a 10 is his floor. That's crazy. Um, he doesn't do anything good except look good playing basketball. He just doesn't shoot the ball good or dribble the ball. Good. Yeah, no, there's, there's no doubt about, um, I mean, I do think obviously, I mean, uh, Peterson's clearly a risk. I don't necessarily, like, I really liked, uh, Wagler at Illinois. I just don't know. I just don't know how, like if he could be as sort of weird. Yeah. It's it, there's like a, I don't know if it's stylistically. I don't know if, cause obviously he's very good at basketball, but like, there's just something, it feels like one of those picks where it's like this guy had a super, super hot year and a team that he essentially could run. Um, and had a great supporting cast around him and like, I don't, I don't necessarily know if like, okay, you pick him at whatever, five, six, apparently don't love him at five. That was forever. He was going to go five, but the Clippers allegedly don't love them. And again, this is draft week talk. So maybe it all means not sure. Smokescreen time. Allegedly Mike Calbrown jr. Is, is the Clippers front runner at five. That's an interesting one too. So he's fun. He's fun in that there are very few people that can both drive the ball effectively and pull up from 30 feet. It's just, is there more to his game than those two things? Yeah. But I mean, look at, look at the alternative. A cuff may be the worst defensive player I've ever seen as a lottery pick. His defensive tape is embarrassed. He's not great. He didn't, he doesn't even try. And there, you know, there's all of this talk. They're like, oh no, that was the plan. Like they didn't want him to tire himself out on defense. And if that's the case, all right. But he just lets guys dribble right by him with the most minimal of effort. You're putting a lot of faith in, uh, in like a listen, trust me. Yeah. I don't know how I feel about that. Offensively. He's unbelievable. Yeah. Unbelievable. And then there's like, you know, Kingston Fleming. So I think he got hurt because he measured a little small and he's got like the Brandon Graham arms. So that's not ideal. Uh, people really like buries recently, but I don't know a day. Mara's been hot, but again, like what does he do? That's that good. Other than being seven, four, not a ton. I think there's a lot of help. Uh, I think there's a lot of help, uh, there with just how good that Michigan team was and I guess that's fair. Like, I guess you look at any of their individual rebounding numbers and it's like, they're kind of bad, but then you're like, oh yeah, well you had Linda Borg, Johnson jr. And Morrow on the court at the same time. So it was like, yeah, fair enough. They're all going to be suppressed a little bit. Yeah, of course. Like there's just, there's, it's, it's a lot of talent. I mean, obviously you're going to see potentially three of those guys go in the, what lottery? They all wrote, they could all go in the lottery. Yeah. So like, it's, it's a good team. Ah, we didn't even talk about the dusty May leaving Michigan. That was crazy. How do you don't understand it? You think he's ready to be a pro coach? No, I listened. Great college coach. Unbelievable. Success, Florida Atlantic. And then you follow it up with the, the Natty at Michigan. And it's like, that's all, that's all well and good, but like, I, I just, some franchises where you think like all those years with Dirk and they kind of like, you know, we're, we're, uh, always competitive, always like kind of did the, the sort of right thing. And then eventually, you know, obviously got, uh, got the eventual title. And now you're like, I'm not sure about anything that goes on here anymore. Like not sure even a tiny bit. So yeah, I'll be very interested to see, uh, how that, how that plays. And like, I'm waiting, I'm waiting, sorry. I'm waiting for them to announce that the new men's basketball, the head men's basketball coach is going to be, uh, like, well, we have them under contract anyway, so let's see what Sharon Moore can do. Oh God, that now that would be something that would be, you want to talk about the ultimate, the ultimate swerve now we're, now we're cooking. You'd have to get work released from, from jail, but you know, whatever. Listen, he's more time, more time to watch film. Oh yeah, exactly. Right. Not going to get in trouble. You know? Yeah. We've already, we've already bridged that gap, but it was, it was a weird high for sure. I couldn't believe it. When I saw the, when I saw the, the whatchamacallit, uh, the report, I was like, what, what are we doing here? This is, this is odd. Yeah. I'll tell you what, it's funny because I, I was, I built a, a program to scrape a bunch of like the big sports sites today for, so I could compile stuff for yesterday in sports and for whatever reason, it was just creating fake shit. Like it was, it was creating fake headlines. I looked at it and I looked at the first scrape and I was like, Oh my God. Musayala just got transferred. Aaron Rogers retired. Like, what did I miss while I've been working? And also it included the Dusty Mayhires. So I was like, Oh, I guess that's not real either. And then it was. No, it turns out, turns out it was one of the, it was, it was the actual only true story of the fake headlines that you saw. Big fake headline. Yeah, big thing. Yeah. Weird, weird story, but all right. It's been an hour that, uh, feels like the, it feels like the right time for this. We, uh, I appreciate you, my friend, uh, always being able to go a day early so that we can enjoy, well, I can enjoy the NBA draft. I'm not going to, I'm not going to speak for you. I'm not going to speak for you. I don't know. You're going to watch it. Uh, there's, uh, there's, uh, my, my guess is I'll be tuned in. There's, uh, I think, I think I have like travel soccer at some point to like practice or something. But I'll be, I'll be, I'll be paying attention. Well, I will say your soccer has really come along since you've joined this team. And I mean, listen, uh, I've been playing, I've been playing nine, you girls soccer for a long time, Chris. And you know, I'm, I'm here to, I'm here to go. This is year 28 of you playing girls. You nine soccer. Exactly. Yep. I can't get me off the field. Oh, congratulations on that. One of these days you're going to start. Don't worry about it. You know, that's going to be it for this week's episode. If you're wrong and here's why for Greg Curran, I'm Chris Horvidell. Thanks for listening. Enjoy the world cup. Enjoy the draft. Listen to all of the shows and we'll see you next time.
